What is this?
A day has 1,440 minutes. On Minute of Fame, anyone can own one. When your minute comes around, every day, your logo, title and link fill the stage for everyone watching, all over the world. Then the next minute takes over.
That’s it. A clock the whole internet watches together, where every minute belongs to someone.
The live stage
- The dial shows all 1,440 minutes of the day, in UTC. The glowing dot is now; the stage in the middle shows whoever owns this minute.
- Tap a reaction to send it floating up for everyone watching, and see everyone else’s.
- Wave together: in the last ten seconds of every minute, press the wave button. When the minute turns, everyone who waved in sync gets counted together. It’s silly. It’s also the best part.
- With the music on, a soft chime marks each minute, a fuller one each quarter hour, and a big one on the hour.
Owning a minute
- Find a minute that means something to you: a birthday, an anniversary, your shop’s opening time, 3:14 for the math fans. An available minute costs $5; special minutes (palindromes like 12:21, runs like 12:34) cost $50.
- Give it a title, a link, a short description and a logo (upload your own or pick one of ours), plus an optional effect when your minute starts.
- It airs every day at that minute, for as long as you own it. You can edit it anytime from My minutes.
- Two minutes belong to everyone and are never for sale: 00:00 and 11:11.
When a minute isn’t owned
Open minutes still air something: a recent community post (free to write, and it can air in open minutes during the hour after it’s posted), or one of our own messages: a fact about time, a joke from the moon, a one-minute challenge, a kind word.
The market
- Offers: any owned minute can be bought from its owner. Standard offers are 20% over the current price and give the owner 48 hours; Fast is 50% over with 24 hours; Instant is 100% over and completes at once.
- Keeping your minute: during the window, the owner can keep it by paying the difference (plus our fee on it). If they don’t, the minute passes to the bidder and the owner gets the price minus our 5% fee.
- Protection: after a purchase, a minute can’t receive offers for 24 hours.
- Rentals: owners can rent their minute out by the day (at least $5), and renters’ content airs instead of the owner’s on that date.
- The Market shows recent sales and prices; Brightest shows the minutes that got the most reactions.
Money
Right now purchases are simulated: no real money changes hands.
- Money you earn from selling or renting out your minute goes to your balance, held for 14 days.
- To withdraw it, set up payouts with Stripe from My minutes (minimum $25). Without payouts, your balance works as credit on the site: for claims, offers, rentals and keeping your minutes.
- Owning a minute is a display license, not an investment. The terms have the details.
Keeping it nice
Everything here is shown to everyone, so every handle, title, link, logo and post is checked before it appears, by automatic rules and an AI model. Some things wait for a person to look. Repeatedly submitting things that break the rules gets you muted for 24 hours. If something slips through, use the little flag on the stage to report it.
