What is this?
A day has 1,440 minutes. On Minute of Fame, anyone can own one. When your minute comes around, every day, your logo, title and link fill the stage for everyone watching, all over the world. Then the next minute takes over.
That’s it. A clock the whole internet watches together, where every minute belongs to someone.
The live stage
- The dial shows all 1,440 minutes of the day, in UTC. The glowing dot is now; the stage in the middle shows whoever owns this minute.
- Tap a reaction to send it floating up for everyone watching, and see everyone else’s.
- Wave together: in the last ten seconds of every minute, press the wave button. When the minute turns, everyone who waved in sync gets counted together. It’s silly. It’s also the best part.
- With the music on, a soft chime marks each minute, a fuller one each quarter hour, and a big one on the hour.
Owning a minute
- Find a minute that means something to you: a birthday, an anniversary, your shop’s opening time, 3:14 for the math fans. An available minute costs $5; special minutes (whole hours like 13:00, half hours, palindromes like 12:21, runs like 12:34) cost $50.
- Give it a title and a logo (upload your own or pick one of ours), a link and a short description if you like, and an optional effect when your minute starts.
- It airs every day at that minute, for as long as you own it. You can edit it anytime from My minutes.
- Two minutes belong to everyone and are never for sale: 00:00 and 11:11.
When a minute isn’t owned
Open minutes still air something: a recent community post (free to write once you have an account, and it can air in open minutes during the hour after it’s posted), or one of our own messages: a fact about time, a joke from the moon, a one-minute challenge, a kind word.
The market
- Offers: any owned minute can be bought from its owner. Standard offers are 20% over the current price and give the owner 48 hours. Fast is 50% over with 24 hours. Instant is 100% over and completes at once.
- Keeping your minute: during the window, the owner can keep it by paying the difference (plus our fee on it). If they don’t, the minute passes to the bidder and the owner gets the price minus our 5% fee.
- Protection: after a purchase, a minute can’t receive offers for 24 hours.
- Rentals: owners can rent their minute out by the day (at least $5), and renters’ content airs instead of the owner’s on that date.
- The Market shows recent sales and prices; Brightest shows the minutes that got the most reactions.
Money
- Money you earn from selling or renting out your minute goes to your balance, held for 14 days.
- To withdraw it, set up payouts with Stripe from My minutes (minimum $25). Without payouts, your balance works as credit on the site: for claims, offers, rentals and keeping your minutes.
- Owning a minute is a display license, not an investment. The terms have the details.
Keeping it nice
Everything here is shown to everyone, so every handle, title, link, logo and post is checked before it appears, by automatic rules and an AI model. Some things wait for a person to look. Repeatedly submitting things that break the rules gets you muted for 24 hours. If something slips through, use the little flag on the stage to report it.
Questions people ask
Do I need an account to watch?
No. Anyone can watch the stage, send reactions, wave and vote on community posts. You need to sign in (with Google or an email link, no password; signing in the first time creates your account) to write a post, or to own, offer on, rent or report a minute.
What time zone is the dial in? When does my minute air where I live?
The dial runs on UTC, so a minute airs at the same instant everywhere on Earth. Your minute's card and page show when that is in your own time zone, and it follows daylight saving.
How long do I own a minute? Is there a renewal fee?
For as long as you keep it. There's no subscription or renewal: you pay once, and it airs every day until someone buys it from you through an offer.
Can someone take my minute? How do I keep it?
Anyone can make an offer on an owned minute: Standard (20% over the current price, you have 48 hours to answer), Fast (50% over, 24 hours) or Instant (100% over, completes at once). We email you right away. To keep it, pay the difference plus our 5% fee on it before the window closes. If you let it go, you receive the price minus our fee. After any sale, a minute is protected from offers for 24 hours.
Can I sell my minute?
There's no listing: buyers come to you with offers, and each sale raises the minute's price. When one completes, the price minus our 5% fee goes to your balance. You can also rent your minute out by the day and keep it.
What does it cost, and what's your fee?
An available minute costs $5; a special minute costs $50. An owned minute costs what its offers say. Our fee is 5% of each sale and rental, paid by the seller or owner; renters also pay a $0.75 service fee.
What's a special minute? Why are 00:00 and 11:11 not for sale?
Special minutes are the memorable ones: whole hours like 13:00, half hours like 13:30, palindromes like 12:21, runs like 12:34, repeats like 22:22 and 01:11. They cost more and are marked on the dial. 00:00 and 11:11 belong to everyone and are never sold: every day, 00:00 starts the new internet day and 11:11 is for making a wish, together.
Can I rent a minute for just one day?
Yes, if its owner rents it out. Pick a date up to 30 days ahead on the minute's page; your logo and title air at that minute on that date instead of the owner's. Owners set the daily price (at least $5).
What can I put on my minute? Why is mine "waiting for review"?
A title, a link, a short description, a logo (yours or one of ours) and an optional effect when it starts. It's shown to everyone, all ages, so nothing sexual, hateful, violent, misleading or illegal, and only logos you have the rights to. Every submission is checked by automatic rules and an AI model. When they aren't sure, a person looks. Until then your last approved content keeps airing. A minute with nothing approved yet still airs community posts or our own messages, not a line that asks someone to claim it. Its page says it is taken.
What happens if my content is taken down?
You keep the minute. Its content stops airing until you put up something that follows the rules. Removed owner content isn't refunded, and bookings of that minute stay as they are. When a renter's content is taken down, only that renter's days that have not reached their air time are refunded, to the card or balance they were paid with. A day counts as aired once its slot has started. The owner keeps that rent. Other renters' days are left alone. If several submissions are refused within a day, you can't submit for 24 hours.
How do I get paid, and when?
Earnings from sales and rentals go to your balance and are held for 14 days. A credit from a won card dispute, and a positive adjustment we add, are also held for 14 days. To withdraw, set up payouts with Stripe from My minutes; the minimum cash-out is $25, and it usually arrives in 2 business days. Without payouts, your balance works as credit on the site. Can I get a refund?
Completed purchases are final, but you're never charged for something that didn't happen: if someone gets a minute first, or an offer doesn't complete, the money is returned or the card hold released automatically. A rental taken down for breaking the rules is refunded only for that renter's days that have not reached their air time. A day that has started is not refunded, and the owner keeps that rent. Another renter's booking is not refunded. Anything else: write to timekeeper@minuteoffame.lol.
Who can report a minute?
You need a verified email. A paid minute counts a report only from an account at least 24 hours old. A free community post counts a report from an account at least 1 hour old. The owner and that day's renter cannot report it. One inbox counts once.
I got an email saying a minute was saved for me. What's that?
We sometimes give a minute away to people we'd love to see on the stage, already showing their name and logo. It's free. Open the link in the email and sign in with that address to claim it; it's held for you for 30 days. If you'd rather not, the email has a link to stop them.
What's the wave?
In the last ten seconds of every minute, the wave button lights up. Press it, and when the minute turns, everyone who waved in time is counted together. It's the closest thing to a crowd doing the wave around the whole planet.
How many people are watching?
The "looking up" count at the top is how many people have the site open right now. Each airing also keeps its peak viewers and reactions; owners see them for their minutes, and the brightest minutes are on the Brightest page.
Is this an investment?
No. Owning a minute is a license to show your content on the site during that minute. It isn't ownership of anything, and prices can go down as well as up, or not move at all. Buy one because it means something to you.
How do I change my handle, or delete my account?
Change your handle on your Account page (3–20 characters: letters, numbers and underscores, starting with a letter). After a change you can change it again in 7 days, and your old handle stays reserved for you for 30 days. To delete your account, write to timekeeper@minuteoffame.lol from your sign-in address. Who runs it
Minute of Fame is made by Teralyt Software LLC. Questions, ideas, or something broken: timekeeper@minuteoffame.lol. See also the privacy policy.
A few starter accounts run by the Minute of Fame team react and wave to keep the board lively, and they count in the looking-up number. They never buy minutes or report anyone.
